History
The name means “the pond the letter came from”. On its bank stands Iyodang, a pavilion built in the Joseon period.
Legend
In 488, in King Soji’s reign, an old man is said to have risen from this pond with an envelope: “Open it and two will die; leave it shut and one will die.” Inside were the words “Shoot the geomungo case”, and in the zither case the king found a man hiding to kill him.
