Ichadon

History

In 527, under King Beopheung, when the court opposed accepting Buddhism, he gave up his life. Silla then adopted the faith and began building Heungnyunsa.

Legend

When he was beheaded, blood as white as milk is said to have gushed out. A stone pillar carved with the scene, the Ichadon Martyrdom Stele, is in Gyeongju National Museum.
